In the past few years people have become more health conscious and both athletes and health buffs have become more conscious of diet and nutrition. To meet this new demand, many books have been written on sports nutrition to increase awareness of how to eat healthily while exercising and doing sports. Among these books, some stand out as worth studying.

'Sports Nutrition Guidebook' by Nancy Clark contains a series of suggestions for sport nutrition by different sports nutritionists. Nancy Clark herself is a renowned sports nutritionist. The book shows the reader how to identify the foods that provide more energy while helping to cope with stress and weight control, and still improve overall health and better a stressed-out lifestyle with improved quality workouts. Special attention is given to losing excess body fat without losing energy needed for exercising. The book contains great tips on how to improve benefits from food by choosing the right food for you. 'High-Performance Nutrition: The Total Eating Plan to Maximum your Workout' by Susan Kleiner shows the connection of one's eating to a workout schedule and plan to obtain best results from a workout. She shows how this connection of diet to exercise to excel in sports can help the body to respond best to all kinds of workouts, including strength training, aerobics, cross training, endurance training and other types of sports.

'Sports Nutrition for Endurance Athletes' by sports counselor Monique Ryan on the athlete's nutritional intake needs is the culmination of 20 years experience counseling athletes on the right nutrition. She takes the reader through the principles that help endurance athletes of all sports and has specific guidelines for triathlon, distance running, cycling, swimming, mountain biking, and many other sports. In addition to basic nutrition, she fosters persistence in training. This is a book that give specific details of how to eat best in addition to being a general practical sports nutrition guide.

'Eating for Endurance' is by a registered dietician who is an endurance athlete that specializes in sports nutrition. It's a firsthand information book, because author writes from experience. The book includes programs to improve the diet, maintain equilibrated health vs. ideal weight balance, shows how to use supplements for sport nutrition, extreme environment sport handling and other helpful information for the endurance athlete.

It's important for all serious athletes and health buffs to have the right tools to manage their workouts and to combine the right foods. These books do not feed the reader misleading information or false promises, but rather provide information that shows that achieving targets and goals is possible if the person is persistent and committed. Sports nutrition studies show that exercise with a balanced diet helps achieve an athlete's goals, while it improves overall health.
