Sports Nutrition Protein for Exercise

All athletes want to succeed at becoming exceptional sportsmen in their chosen arena. Competitive athletes need the right nutrition and supplements to achieve their goals, with rigorous and regular training programs. Balanced diets and lots of water are normally enough for normal healthy individuals involved in normal sports. The competitive sportsman however, needs more sports nutrition protein to excel.

Sports nutrition protein adds additional strength, power, and endurance for the rigorous training involved in high intensity sports. Sports nutrition protein sustains this demanding schedule by nourishing the body further and helping it endure the harsh routine that is involved in intensive training day after day, without harming the body.

Proteins are part of the building blocks of the body. Complete proteins are found in animal products like meats, fish, poultry, dairy and eggs. Vegetables often need to be combined to get complete proteins, like corn and beans. Nuts and green leaves give complete proteins. Some doctors and nutritionists recommend that protein-based foods make up 12% to 15% of the body's daily calorie intake. The quandary is how to get it without all the bulk that comes along with natural food. Sports nutrition protein products have been produced to address this problem.

Protein provides the body the building blocks to create new tissue. The body, however, can only metabolize a certain amount of protein per day and the extra protein not used for energy is converted to fat stored in the liver. Sports nutrition protein products, however, offer the right proportion of protein needed by the body, at the moment it's needed.

Protein requirements can vary according on the individual's fitness level, weight and height, work regimen, and the intensity, length and frequency of their exercise program. Although calorie intake including carbohydrates directly provide energy, proteins indirectly provide energy and the power to build new muscle mass.

Intense workouts can cause some tissue destruction, which appears to invigorate the immune system. The exercise process appears to help the body's natural healing process to work. That's why physical activity is so important for health. Sports nutrition protein helps during exercising by providing protein to replace destroyed cells. New athletes need more protein than long time sportsmen, who just need a maintenance dosage. Endurance athletes burn protein for energy and therefore need a higher proportion of sports nutrition protein.

If enough calories aren't provided to the body, the body will burn protein for energy, which means destroying muscle mass. Insufficient nutrition with a great amount of physical workout can cause this loss of muscle mass. Insufficient consumption of carbohydrates will casue the body to convert protein to energy when working out, to result in low muscle glycogen levels. Glycogen is a type of glucose stored by the body in the liver. All of these problems can be solved by the use of the specially formulated sports nutrition protein products. Sports nutrition can help maintain an athlete in top condition without sacrificing body mass and help the athlete get to his desired goal.
